Theresa Sury

Theresa is entering her 16th year as a teacher at CDS. She teaches in the Spirit and Polar Bear classrooms, and is the K-8 Art Specialist at Charlottesville Day School. Theresa graduated from James Madison University in 2011 with an Art Education degree, Pre-K through 12 with a focus on using art across the curriculum. She has taught in both the Spirit and Polar Bear rooms, led math instruction, taught art for the Elementary and Middle School classes, and works with the Theater program! She will be growing the art program this year, and is enthusiastic to support teachers across the age groups to enrich their curriculum. She loves to collaborate with artists across the community in order to share new ideas with students. She is grateful for the many hats that CDS allows her to wear, and getting to know every student. Theresa’s daughter Jeanne began school at CDS at age 2, and has another future Cubby waiting to begin. She couldn’t picture them anywhere else!
