Megan brings a lifelong passion for the arts and education to the Charlottesville Day School team. She earned her B.A. in Art Education, studied Italian Renaissance Art History and Drawing in Florence Italy, before moving to Charlottesville to pursue graduate studies at the University of Virginia, where she completed her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.
After many years of teaching art in public schools, Megan found a home at Free Union Country School—first as a parent, then as the beloved art teacher, a role she held for many years. Five years ago, she found her new home at Charlottesville Day School and stepped into the Brown Bear classroom as the 2nd grade teacher, where she combines her love of teaching with her creative background to foster a joyful, engaging classroom community.
Outside the classroom, Megan enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, visiting art galleries, and creating her own artwork through drawing, painting, and printmaking. She shares her home with her two children—one in high school and one in college—and a lively menagerie of pets, including two dogs, two cats, and 14 snails.
