Kate Silvey

Kate Silvey is originally from Kingsport, TN and studied English at the University of Alabama before earning her Master’s in Teaching from UVA in 2021. She taught kindergarten in Harrisonburg and spent a year in the Cubs classroom here at CDS before making the jump to 1st Grade in 2023. She has fallen in love with the world of first grade and enjoys witnessing the incredible growth that occurs in her students during this magical school year. When she’s not teaching, Kate loves to write, read, go on walks and hikes, work on various art projects, and spend time with her cat Calliope.
