Mona Morris

Mona is looking forward to a new adventure as she joins CDS for her first year! Over the past two decades, she’s taught English at the middle and high school levels, tutored a wide range of students and coached preservice teachers. She grew up in Northern Virginia and attended UVA for college, earning a BA/MT in English. After seven years of teaching high school, Mona took a position as a sixth grade English teacher and found out that middle school was the place to be! She then spent ten years in Richmond, VA raising two daughters and working as an educator. Her favorite experiences in education include team-teaching a World Civilizations class, working in the Middle Years Programme for International Baccalaureate, teaching creative writing, and working at VCU’s School of Education. She is looking forward to supporting the CDS community and continuing the love of learning during the Extended Day Program. Outside of school, Mona enjoys writing, yoga, dance and walks with her family and their Dalmatian dog, Loki.
